Sandalwood Oil

Sandalwood is a fragrant wood that is used for various purposes. Its one of the species that is santalum, is mostly used for the extraction of essential oil. This wood is yellow in color and quite heavy as well. It is available fine-grained and unlike various other fragrant woods, it carries its fragrance for years. Earlier it was mostly used as a pharmaceutical disinfectant, while its use has been stopped because of the expense of the oil. Presently, it is used in ayurvedic medicines for problems like urinary & respiratory infections, chronic and acute diarrhea. It also has therapeutic uses for the problems of stomache aches, gonorrhea, vomiting and skin issues in chinese traditional medicine.
